BTC I had to think a little while before I responded. While I agree with your sentiment, what's to say that this is not just another aspect of the Deep state psy ops against us. We know now that most of what is in any media is lies on top of more lies, all made to draw us in like flies to shit.
I'm not saying this to be disrespectful but facts are stubborn things. If you were deep in the MIC you already know this, that's whay I take these articles with less than a grain of salt. I know the kind of people that make up our government and this would be right up their ally. Just another arrow in the quiver to gather information.

I salute your integrity. The damage that prolonged cognitive dissonance does to our souls should not be underestimated. I am older, I suspect, but have also resigned, from a mediocre but reasonably well paid role in UK academia. The job was fun - easily within my capabilities - and my immediate colleagues very nice people. Certain topics taboo, obv. But the wider environment is so so stultifying.
One quick anecdote: during Freshers' Week some colleagues organised a competition that entailed kicking footballs at a target tucked away at the back of a large inflatable structure. What we in the UK call a 'bouncy castle'. An accurate shot would set off a (not very loud) klaxon and vivid lights, and spectators would whoop. You know: harmless fun.
The outcry from the shrieking class, concerned about such a 'mass spreader event' only a few hundred yards from their corner offices, was a thing to behold. I knew I was on borrowed time from that moment. ( This after months of cowering at home whether I wanted to or not. (Not.) )

Congratulations on being one of the very very few with the self awareness to feel the discomfort and then actually do something about it. I look forward to hearing more from you. Personally, given your background and experience, I'd be most interested in reading your opinions and analyses on current events, particularly as they pertain to the incessant psychological bombardment of the American people by the DC Regime and its minions. I warrant that you are qualified to evaluate their gameplan and how they are seeking to shape the information battlespace.
As far as winning the Cold War etc... It is incredible to wake up to the realization that, at the very least, we are NOT the good guys and very probably are the bad guys (or part of the gang).
It's funny, i was a regular commenter over at a popular substack but gave it up. When you're the only person arguing that our system has been hijacked by a criminal Oligarchy and elections are mainly a charade, it's not popular. We're all in varying stages of shock and grief over just how totalitarian our nation has become. I think there's hope eventually but not in any political party or politicians. The Regime won't allow it now. They are all in.
Man I'd love to know what was in those resignation letters, maybe someday we'll have a government that wouldn't do unspeakable things to you for sharing. I believe it can happen. Looking forward to catching up on all of you writing. I have a question/proposition for you... you noted 27 years of service, is that AFS, or was some of it contract work? If AFS there are a whole lot of GS positions in the Army's Holistic Health and Fitness system that I bet you'd be fully qualified for. Being able to "be useful" as you say is important to me as well, and since improving the holisitic health and fitness of Soldiers is within the realm of possibility and orthogonal to the largely pointless endeavors (from my perspective) of the operational efforts of the defense establishment I feel like I can keep chugging away towards 20 without selling my soul, perhaps you could do the same in order to get to 30 AFS (and still keep writing on Substack of course, flexing the fact that we still have 1st amendment rights even though we're drawing a paycheck from uncle). Super cool to have you on substack and on the right side of history!
On another note, is your son doing OK? Marines had it rough with the vax mandate, probably the worst of all branches, too bad their affinity for violence of action was turned inward... in any case I hope he came out alright and is doing well.
Strikes a chord with me because someone close to me is a DIOC (one child), in similar positions to the one you left, and yet remains totally captivated by the deep state machinations. Believes they are serving the country and Snowden was the traitor. Disbelieves anything that is not NY Times. It is astonishing, but you have warmed my heart with your story. Someone who made a substantive change. You 'repented' of being a govt. employee, which is what I have called people to do in my own Substack. That so many can be so easily deceived, for so long, says volumes about how far we have fallen morally, spiritually, and intellectually as a people.
